The University of Minnesota Soil Testing Laboratory is part of the Department of Soil, Water, and Climate. We provide high quality testing services to the public, Universities, private companies, as well as State and Federal Agencies.

COVID-19 Updates

The Soil Testing Lab remains open.  But due to COVID-19 security measures, we cannot accept in-person sample drop-off.  Please mail or ship your samples, and please understand that there may be delays in transport and laboratory functions.  All samples will be handled on a first-come, first-served basis.  Should we be forced to temporarily suspend operations, samples will be properly stored for future testing.

Out-of-State Samples:  Please consult this map. We can accept soils from mainland US counties (including AK) that are NOT highlighted or marked on the map.
