The University of Minnesota Soil Testing Laboratory is part of the Department of Soil, Water, and Climate. We provide high quality testing services to the public, Universities, private companies, as well as State and Federal Agencies.

New Address Starting April 3rd:

Starting on Monday, April 3rd,  we have a new drop off location and mailing address. The new address is:

Parking: Please continue to park on Dudley Ave. on the curb in front of the Crops Research Building until further notice. Metered parking is also available along Gortner Ave.

Out-of-State Samples:  Please consult this map. We can accept soils from mainland US counties (including AK) that are NOT highlighted or marked on the map.

Lawn & Garden:  $17 per sample

Agricultural:  $15 per sample

Greenhouse Media (Standard Test):  $20 per sample

Water (used for irrigation, NOT drinking)

  • Standard Test: $25 per sample
  • Basic Test: $20 per sample
  • Optional Test: $10 per sample
