Submitting Samples for Analysis

Follow instructions for collecting samples

Place sample boxes or bags in a shipping container, or wrap in heavy paper.

Download/print the Soil Sample Information Sheet

  • Lawn/Garden and Professional Turf (.pdf)
  • Farm Field/Horticultural Field (.pdf)

Fill out the information sheet as completely as possible so that accurate recommendations can be given. Keep a copy for your records. If you prefer, we can mail you a soil test kit containing the forms as well as small sample containers for holding the samples. See "About Us" for contact information. (Make sure you specify which type of kit you would like:  Lawn and Garden or Farm Field and give us your complete postal mailing address).

Payment

Prices for testing are listed on the Information Sheets. Enclose a check payable to the University of Minnesota for all services requested. Do not send cash. The University of Minnesota will not be responsible for cash sent through the mail. The sender pays the postage.

Sending Soil Samples

DUE TO TRAFFIC CONGESTION IN THE AREA, IT IS BEST TO MAIL THE SAMPLE

Enclose the information sheet along with a check made out to the University of Minnesota and mail to:

The sample can also be brought to the laboratory. Fill out the information sheet along with a check made out to the University of Minnesota and bring to:
